Patients are admitted to a dedicated acute care medical unit at TMC Lakewood with private room and bath. Themedical detox program is individually structured to the specific needs of each patient. Our nursing staff, on duty 24 hours a day, is always available to provide caring supervision and support. Each of our patients sees a medical provider daily to ensure maximum comfort throughout the detoxification process. A substance abuse counselor will assess the patient and make referrals for ongoing substance abuse treatment.

Patient admissions are accepted Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The immediate needs of the patient are addressed through individualized treatment plans in a safe and supportive environment. Once safe stabilization has been achieved the substance abuse counselor will discuss plans for continuing the recovery process. Prior to discharge, a referral will be made to an appropriate community-based after-care program for continued treatment. The average length of stay is three days.

The Medical Detox Service is generally covered by Missouri and Kansas Medicaid, Medicare, and most commercial plans, including military insurance.
